Teachers

 Georgia Issitt is the studio director at York Pilates Space. She has been a Pilates practitioner for 18 years, is comprehensively trained with MK Pilates to teach Reformer, Cadillac and  Pilates studio apparatus, and began teaching in 2015.  Besides a degree in Art History, Georgia  holds a Level 3 qualification in Advanced Personal Training with the YMCA and  the MK Pilates certifications for  teaching pregnancy, post natal and mature clients. Like all of us at York Pilates Space, Georgia is involved in ongoing study. She has taken professional development training  with Brent Anderson, Alan Herdman, Nuala Coombes  and Malcolm Muirhead  is currently studying embodied anatomy with Ana Barretxeguren at Evolve Movement Education.

Patricia Issitt is a master trainer for MK Pilates International and an ISMETA registered  somatic movement educator (RSME), and has more than 30 years experience in teaching movement. Patricia trained as a Pilates teacher at Michael King’s Pilates Institute and at the Gordon Thomas studio. She holds  both the Pilates Institute Masters Diploma  and  the Certificate in Teaching Remedial (clinical) Pilates.  Patricia has completed 300 hours of studying human anatomy through hands-on dissection with Dr Gil Hedley and Julian Baker CBS. She is qualified with ‘Thoughtful Body’ to work with pre and post natal clients and is a CBS Bowen therapist .

Patricia has an M.A with distinction from University of Central Lancashire in ‘Dance and Somatic Wellbeing: connections to the the living body’;  and  offers one to one somatic movement sessions for wellbeing as well as her regular monthly somatic movement groups.

 

Susie Rea is an Associate Teacher at York Pilates Space and teaches Matwork classes. Susie has been a Pilates Practitioner for 5 years and holds a Level 3 Pilates Matwork qualification from the YMCA. Susie also holds a Level 2 Gym Instructor and Level 3 Personal Training qualification. She runs her own small business: Rea Personal Training providing Personal Training and Pilates. Prior to working in health & fitness Susie worked for 20 years+ in Financial Services.

Susie has a passion for Pilates and believes it is an absolutely vital component of overall health & wellbeing. “I love the way Pilates teaches us to understand and value our bodies more, it is such a mindful experience, whoever you are, and whatever you do, there is always something more to learn”.

 

 

Annemarie Donoghue, is a trained dancer and has taught classical ballet for over 25 years as a member of The Academy of Northern Ballet’s teaching faculty. She holds a degree in dance and has taught dancers from the age of 18 months to 82 years.

Annemarie’s journey to Pilates began as complementary exercise to help maintain her own fitness and well-being. Discovering the benefits, Annemarie was soon hooked and realized how deepening her understanding of Pilates could improve her teaching. She trained as a Pilates teacher with Patricia Issitt at York Pilates Space, and is qualified with MK Pilates in mat work and reformer, with additional training for working with mature clients. Annemarie believes Pilates should be tailored to the individual, and from her own studio in Leeds she runs small mat work classes and specializes in one-to-one reformer and mat work sessions.
